The Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany, Indiana is proud to announce the opening of the 34th annual New Albany-Floyd County Secondary Schools Art Show and Competition. The exhibit will be on display April 21-May 20, 2006 during regular museum hours (Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5:30 pm). There will be a reception for all the wonderful young artists in this exhibit and those who support and encourage them on Thursday May 11 from 6:30-8:00 pm with an awards presentation at 7:00 pm. This event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Since 1972, the NAFC Secondary Schools Art Show and Competition has been held each year for students in the Visual Arts classes. Each teacher juries and submits his or her own students’ work. The 360 or more pieces submitted are judged by a panel of professional artists and art educators. This is the only art show exclusively for the students of Floyd County and the only opportunity for many of these talented individuals to be in academic competition in the Visual Arts with their peers.
