Homemade slime is both gross and beautiful. And there is scintillating science behind the creation of slime. What better activity for a Saturday morning? On August 11, the Carnegie Center will provide the materials, space, and know-how for making your very own slime to take home.

Materials
- Disposable cups
- Measuring spoons and cups
- PVA, white glue, clear Elmer’s glue
- Water
- Zip-close sandwich bags
- Borax powder
- Glow-in-the-dark paint
- Plastic confetti
- [cornstarch]
- Shaving cream
- Baking soda
- Food colorings

- In first cup, 1 Tbsp borax then 2 Tbsp water
- In second cup, 1 Tbsp glue then 1 Tbsp water
- Add color to glue solution and mix
- Pour glue solution into borax solution
- Mix with hands until slime is formed and drained
- Add confetti & other accessories
- In a disposable cup, mix 3/4 teaspoon of polyvinyl alcohol and 1/2 cup of water to create a PVA solution; set aside.
- Add 2 tablespoons of PVA solution to a sandwich bag and mix in 1/8 teaspoon of glow paint. Zip closed and squish around to combine well.
- In a separate bag, combine 3/4 teaspoon of Borax powder with 1/2 cup of warm water, zip closed and mix by squishing until the powder won’t dissolve any further.
- In a third and final sandwich bag, combine two tablespoons of PVA solution with 2 teaspoons of Borax solution, zip closed and knead with fingers to combine.
- To make your goo glow, hold the bag up to the light, let it charge up, and when the lights go off, watch your DIY slime light up the night.
- Add confetti and/or small toys to accessorize your slime.
