Great Finishes

Date:  Tuesday May 20, 2008
Experience Level: For all levels

  • 2 yards of any cotton fabric, 3 yards of Wonder Under® Batting, preferably cotton, 3-4 pieces no less than 12” square
Class Description: Every quilt deserves a great finish. In this workshop you will learn how to finish the edge of your quilts with a French binding. Learn my way of making perfectly mitered corners worthy of a blue ribbon and my way of joining the ends where the strips meet. I will give you my formula for determining how much fabric you need to bind a quilt project and determine the best cut width for your binding strips. Because all quilts need not be bound, in this class you will also learn how to line a quilt as well as how to face one.  If time permits, other non-traditional ways of finishing the edge of your art quilts will be discussed and/or demonstrated
